As I wait for a few more "Charlemagne: Research Notes," we will hold off in writing our essay on Charlemagne. In the meantime, we will continue working on our Middle Ages Unit.
Below is a video providing an overview of the Middle Ages. While it does not provide a lot of detail, it does frame the time period we are studying.
Below is a video providing an overview of the Middle Ages. While it does not provide a lot of detail, it does frame the time period we are studying.
As you watch the video, please answer the following questions (provide as much detail as possible):
- When were the Middle Ages?
- Into which THREE major sections were the Middle Ages divided? What were the time periods of these THREE major sections?
- Why is Charlemagne such a defining figure of the (Early) Middle Ages?
- Besides the Great Schism (1054) which marked the division between the Latin church centred in Rome and the Eastern Greek Church centred in Constantinople, which other important event marks the High Middle Ages? Discuss.
- Besides the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453) that was fought between France and England, which other important event marks the Late Middle Ages? Discuss.
Please type your responses in a word document and email them to me at [email protected] (by Saturday).
