Hopefully, you have had enough time to read through your Holocaust novel (do not worry if you haven't), but I thought we would pick up where we left off. If you have lost the project outline, see below .......
Choose one of the following projects.
*This project is due in two weeks. It is the only assignment I will present this week to give you some time to get started. When completed, please email it to: [email protected]
**If you have any questions or concerns, please post them on this website by clicking on the "comments" tab. In this way, we can all see each other's concerns which may help us all achieve a better understanding.
Choose one of the following projects.
- An illustrated timeline of the major events in the book. For each event, write 5-7 sentences that describe the event and why it is important. Include a picture for each event. There must be at least 10 and no more than 15 that are central to the story.
- A detailed map of the setting of the novel (you could take a picture of this). Locate 10-15 events on the map and write 5-7 sentences describing the event and why it is important. Include illustrations. *Note: this assignment is very much like the timeline, except that you show where in space the events happened instead of where in time they happened.
- You are an editor and have been given the opportunity to interview one of the main characters for your newspaper or magazine. Write a 400-500 word article that describes the questions you asked and what the responses were. Include illustrations.Try to make your final copy look like a real newspaper or magazine. Begin with some background description and questions that come straight from the book (because the reader may not have read the book). Then, you may move on to include descriptions and questions that may not have been included in the book, but are still believable and in context.
- Design a new cover for the novel. Given our current situation, this could look like .....a front cover (different from the original), including the title, the author's name, and a picture that represents a scene or major theme in the novel (you could take a picture of this); a 200-300 word "Summary" about the novel; and a 100-200 word "Review" of the novel. Be honest in your review; if you disliked the novel, say so, and explain why.
- Design a symbol for the Holocaust. The symbol must be three-dimensional. The symbol must also include at least 4 colours that are symbolic. Take a picture of the symbol. The choice of colours and symbolic elements must be defended in a composition of 100-200 words.
